Attention all foreign and international businesses, individuals, and U.S. residents! The deadline to file and pay your business and personal taxes is approaching!
Are you an international business? Do you have operations and investments in and outside of the U.S.? Are you a U.S. ex-pat or a dual citizen living abroad? If you were impacted by COVID-19 and were not able to file and pay your taxes by the normal April 15th due date, you still have time! Due to the economic fallout from COVID-19, the government automatically extended everyone’s time to file and pay their taxes to July 15, 2020. This treatment applies for both U.S. and non-U.S. taxpayers.
However, you only qualify for this treatment if your normal due date for filing and paying taxes in the U.S. fell between April 1, 2020 and July 15, 2020. This would generally include filings and payments for individuals and C corporations.
If you own a partnership or an S corporation, you must have filed and paid any applicable taxes no later than March 15, 2020. No extension was granted for filing and payment deadlines falling on this date. If late, you need to act now to avoid accruing additional extra penalties and interest on your late filing.
